I can understand wanting to make sure the correct amount of points are awarded to your My Best Buy™ account.  If the coupon was scanned correctly while you were at the store, then it should appear on the receipt.  Being that it can generally take up to 20 days for points to officially post to a member's account, I would suggest that we allow that time to pass before we look into other potential options.

Negative Rewards Balance

I was combing through my history, and cannot seem to see where any returns or exchanges were calculated in my account. I have a negative balance of reward points, and it is slightly upsetting. I use to be a bestbuy employee, but that shouldnt have affected my account to have a negative balance. If you guys could look into this, that would be lovely.

I've been in the process of trying to link my MyBestBuy accounts and my bestbuy.com accounts. So I can view my points and reward certificates. However when I go through the process and put my phone number in to verify my account and they are supposed to send me a email to my email account on file. I never receive the email. I've tried resending but that doesn't work either.

I am having the same issue. I purchases the Evil Within for PS4 and the coupon was scanned. I received my bonus gamers club points but not the certificate bonus.

Before we do anything else, I would suggest that you double check your email accounts spam/junk folder because the verification email has been known to get sorted into those folders, and please try not to hit the resend button too many times because that could actually delay the email from sending.


I used the email address you registered with the forum to review your My Best Buy™ account, but I was unable to find one under your name.  If you are trying to link an account that is not in your name or any of the primary information (phone #, email address, mailing address) is not up-to-date, then that could potentially cause problems while trying to link a BestBuy.com and My Best Buy™ account.

As I mentioned above and multiple other times on the forum, it can generally take up to 20 days for points to post to a member's My Best Buy™ account, and it is fairly common for bonus points not to emerge as pending.  I can see the recent purchase in-question in your history and it does appear that the coupon was in-fact scanned.  If you do not see those bonus points post to your account within 20 days, then please send me a private message and I will see what I can do.  A private message can be sent by clicking on the blue button in my signature.

Good morning codenameku,

 

I can understand having questions if your points balance appears to have gone negative and you are unsure as to why.  You want to ensure that you have access to all of the points you have earned.  After using the email address you registered with the forum to review your account, I believe that I found what may have caused your balance to go negative.

 

It looks like a Sony TV you purchased back in May 2013 was recently approved for replacement under the coverage of a Geek Squad Protection plan and store credit was issued, which means a return was processed.  That return caused points you were issued back in 2013 to be removed from your account and that is what caused your balance to go negative.  Once you redeem the store credit, those points should start to repost to your account.

went to best buy on october 15 went to put the coupon and it worked the bad thing is that she put it on an best buy gift card and using the bb gift card means you wont get the points....any solution to this problem

Hi KrazyKris89,

 

I can see that you went back to the store on Wednesday and processed a return/repurchase because the coupon was not displayed on the original receipt.  The store does look to have issued the refund back to a Best Buy gift card rather than your credit card, so the new purchase would not qualify for points.  The coupon is displayed on the new transaction though.

 

I would still suggest that we allow the full 20 days to expire so that the new purchase can officially post to your My Best Buy™ account.  While the new purchase may not qualify for points, I can see that you definitely tried to utilize the coupon; however, it was just not processed correctly.  Please send me a private message after 20 days, by clicking on the blue button in my signature, and I will see what I can do help.

Use this process if you have more than one My Best Buy membership

 

 

1.  Sign in to your BestBuy.com account and go to your “Account Overview”

3.  Lookup or enter your preferred member ID along with your matching phone number

4.  Retrieve your verification email (it could take a few minutes to arrive, if you don’t see it,

I'm having a problem linking my Rewards account with My Best Buy account to see my rewards. I go through the process of linking accounts but never receive the verification email. Help!!

Here is my Story:

 

08/28/2014 : Purchased appliances for $5322 with an offer of 10% back in rewards if I sign-up for Besy Buy credit card. I haven't received it yet rather I am going through a nightmare of my best buy support desk calls who doesn't know what they are doing or who do not have any power to resolve the problem. I strongly believe that Best Buy is purposefully doing this since some people may give after few tries. I know many of my friends went trhough this (if that was known to me earlier I would never made the decision to buy from best buy). At this point I spent  numerous hours speaking to best buy support personnels and still do not know what is happening with my rewards.

 

Started following up on the rewards points from 09/15 onwards by contacting mybest buy support. There was no one who could clearly address or solve my problem. Following are the responses that I get on all the calls that I made to Best Buy:

 

1. We don't handle your case as you are an elite calss memeber. We will transfer you to that department. (I don't feel I am an elite class member. Infact I don't care the class. What I do care is prompt resolution of customer service requests.)

2. Every time I was transferred to a minimum of 4 departments and ended up telling my stories to each one of them. This is happening even today (10/18) and finally the person on the phone told me she can connect me to some one who can solve my issue and disconnected the call. 

3. Your case is open and will take 7-10 business days (just because I am ELITE CLASS MEMBER!!!)to close (this is the same answer I get every time sinc I called first time on 09/15).

 

Bottomline:

I need to get my $532 rewards with out any delay.

No more phone calls to help desk (it was useless and a waste of time)

 

Never ever get cheated by the Best Buy offer of x% back in rewards. They take us through this bad experience everytime. it is not just with me ....I know my close friend who purchased almost the same time as me also went through this. May thats how best buy is making money........by cheating on giving fraud offers to customers...

 

 

Next Steps if not resolved:

1. Report to Better Business Bureau

2. File a complaint with FTC

3. Seek legal help

I must admit I find it rather disheartening that after a month of phone calls and follow-ups you are still no closer to having points in your account than when you first called in.  It should be pretty obvious whether or not your purchase qualified for points.  As long as you did not apply the purchase to a promotional financing offer, then points should have posted within about 20 days.  If the appliances were purchased from one of our Pacific Sales stores within a store, then it may take up to 35 days.

Expired certificate

Hi,

I just realized I had a $10 certificate that expired 1month ago, is there a way to revive the cert? I am a little surprised that the reward program certificate expired so soon!
